It’s never too early to consolidate your child’s Northern Suburb YMCA summer camp location, as camps fill up quickly. Registration for the summer camp is now open for NSYMCA members and will open for non-members on December 20. To learn more about summer camp programs, the Y will be hosting its annual summer camp open house on Saturday, January 8 from 10:00 am – noon at the Y facility at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook.
The Summer Camp Open House offers families the chance to meet staff members as they explore the facilities and learn about the Y’s wide variety of summer camp programs. There will also be a bounce house. for preschoolers, a craft station and games. In addition, the Y will be holding a draw to win a free week of camp, valued at $ 232, for all families submitting registration forms for the open house.
The NSYMCA offers a wide range of over 40 general and special interest day camps for children from 1 year to junior high. The Camp 2022 brochure, available online at NSYMCA.org, details all the exciting options, including specialty camps in art, music, dance, cooking, science, media. digital, etc. All of the NSYMCA’s camp programs provide a welcoming, stimulating and creative environment to support the development of each child. Y camps offer fun and active experiences that foster friendships, trust and curiosity. Campers take full advantage of the Y’s indoor pool, large gymnasiums, outdoor athletic fields and playgrounds. Many programs also include weekly excursions to exciting suburban Chicago locations.
The new programs for 2022 feature innovative camps for specific interests, including:
â¢ Specialty Camps – All new Specialty Camps like Circus Camp, Lego Camp, Zombie Survival and Game On !, plus last year’s favorites like Art Explorers, Battle Robots, Candy Chemistry, Pokemon, and more.
â¢ Field Trip Camp – This year the Y is offering a half-day and full-day Ultimate Destination Camp and Water Park Camp.
â¢ All Aboard Camp – New this year, one-year-olds accompanied by a parent or guardian can now attend camp two mornings per week.
â¢ Sunset Camps – New camps for parents who work late in the afternoon.
â¢ Dance Camp – Now a 4 week session, ending with a recital.
â¢ Cooking Camps – Chef Rachel returns with 4 new culinary camp adventures, including camps based on popular TV shows like “Chopped” and “Nailed It”.
â¢ Full Day Navigators – For our older campers, Navigators are now a full day only, leaving more time for travel, activities and fun.
â¢ Legends – Sports Camp has grown with the addition of a new camp group this year.
NSYMCA camps offer flexibility and value that appeals to parents. Campers can sign up for weekly sessions, adapting to family schedules and allowing children to explore a variety of programs. The Y offers half-day and full-day camps, before and after camp child care and payment plans; financial assistance is available for families in need.
All camp activities are managed by highly trained counselors under the guidance of the Y’s experienced professional staff. Camp Director Ricky Gonzalez is getting ready for his third summer at the North Suburbs YMCA, where he will manage a team of 70 people and oversee 40 summer camp programs. Ricky brings over 14 years of camp management experience to his role overseeing all Camp Y programs.
