The Department of Farm Input Support Services (FISS) of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) has announced the start of registration of agrochemical manufacturers and agricultural dealers selling fertilizers and agrochemicals. agrochemicals to farmers in the country to address the problem of the proliferation of counterfeit and harmful agrochemicals to innocent Nigerians.
Addressing agro-dealers in Kano State during a market awareness campaign held at Sabon Gari market in Kano State, Deputy Director of FISS, Mr. Abba Bashir revealed that Recent findings have shown that many deadly diseases are attributed to foods consumed that are contaminated due to the use of certain harmful agrochemicals by farmers.

He explained that farmers use these harmful chemicals without knowing that such practices can lead to the premature death of innocent people. He further disclosed that it was on this note that the Federal Government, based on global practices, was agitating for the cessation of the use of certain identified agrochemicals containing chemicals like Chloropyrifos, Blocade, Certilain , Oleorel among others.
In his remarks, the National President Nigeria Agro Inputs Dealers Association (NAIDA), Alhaji Kabir Umar Safa, urged all members to support the decision taken by FISS to ensure that businesses take place on a more secure footing for practitioners to prosper. and develop their business in a more legal way. It further provided assurance of adequate compliance with the new innovation.
